A healthy start with Dr. Hardick

We’re starting the year healthy and happy over here! The first photoshoot of 2020 was for Dr. Hardick’s recipe blog. I’ve been working with BJ since I moved to Canada in 2015, he was one of the first people who gave me a chance, even with my broken English. He supported my cookbook in 2017 as a partner, and he has also witnessed first-hand photography style transformation over the years, from bright and simple to messy and moody.

I have only good things to say about BJ and his team. In 2018, the methodology changed a little, for the first few years, I cooked the recipes myself and then photographed them, but a couple of years ago, Chef Trevor Ross jumped on board making the process smoother and a lot more fun! He would develop and prepare the recipes during the photoshoot, so I could focus on what I do best, photograph them. Trevor would also incorporate a wider variety of plant-based vegan meals and treats, making these photoshoots some of my favourite—as I could finally get to eat the food I photograph, which doesn’t often happen (the only downside of being vegan while working mostly for a non-vegan market).

Enough chat for now, here are some of my favourite shots from our last photoshoot, which you can also prepare at home by following BJ’s recipe blog.
